Lernerville Speedway ready to Salute the King during Don Martin Memorial Silver Cup

Sarver, PA (July 8, 2014) The Don Martin Memorial Silver Cup Twin 30s presented by GottaRace.com featuring the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series will not only pay tribute to the lasting memory of Lernerville’s Founding Father and Hall of Fame Promoter, but this year will also honor the unprecedented achievements of the great Steve Kinser. Throughout the “Salute to the King” tour, Steve Kinser has been lauded with gifts of special recognition and that will continue next Tuesday, July 15 during the Silver Cup. Details will be withheld until the day of the event, but rest assured that the King will be given his due!

Amazingly, in the 80 World of Outlaws A-Mains contested at the Action Track since its debut on August 29, 1979, Kinser has won 17 of those races; most recently the Silver Cup in 2008. In addition to his 2008 Silver Cup victory, Kinser also won the event 20 years ago in 1994. In case you were wondering, the winner of the World of Outlaws debut at Lernerville in 1979 . . . you guessed it, Steve Kinser!

Despite racing at Lernerville just once to four times a year the past 35 years, Kinser sits tied for 12th All Time on the Sprint Car Wins List at the Action Track. Interestingly enough, he is tied for 12th with longtime nemesis Sammy Swindell. 15 of Swindell’s wins are Outlaws A-Mains; the last of which came almost exactly 10 years ago at the Silver Cup in 2014. He also won the Inaugural Silver Cup in 1992 and again in 2000.

Kinser enters this big week of racing, (starting tomorrow night with the Brad Doty Classic at Limaland and followed by the King’s Royal Weekend at Eldora), with one feature win on the season and currently rides eighth in Outlaws Points. For his career, Kinser has 577 feature wins, an astounding 20 World of Outlaws Championships and 12 Knoxville Nationals Titles.

Kinser brings along with him the entire roster of World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car drivers including Donny Schatz and Daryn Pittman who are once again engaged in a heated battle for the points lead. Schatz enters the four-race, seven-day swing through Ohio and Pennsylvania with a 73-point lead over the Pittman, who swept this past weekend’s action at Dodge City Raceway Park in Kansas. Pittman leads the series with nine feature wins on the season to Schatz’s eight. Schatz won his fourth Silver Cup in 2013, while Pittman won the other 30-lap A-Main.
