Pittsburgh’s Pennsylvania Motor Speedway will play host to one of the biggest UFO/ULMS sanctioned events of 2011 this Friday and Saturday, September 16th and 17th; as a $9,000 total winner’s share is up for grabs for the super late models at the monster half-mile. Friday night preliminary action will consist of a 33 lap, $2,000 to win event for the super late models; leaving Saturday night’s 66 lap ‘Pittsburgher’ finale worth $7,000. The best in regional super late model competition will gather at the monster half-mile this weekend- in hopes of taking home some or all of the $9,000 possible pay day.
South Park, Pennsylvania native and recent UFO winner, Jared Miley, will look to end his plague of bad luck at Pittsburgh’s Pennsylvania Motor Speedway this weekend, and gain ground on the UFO Championship. Miley, who became Fully Injected’s first super late model representative earlier this summer, plans to compete in tomorrow night’s practice session, as well as both nights of competition- in hopes of turning his recent win into a streak. The Forcey Coal, H1, Rocket found victory lane last weekend at Roaring Knob Motorsports Complex in Markleysburg, PA. The UFO sanctioned win was worth $5,000.
The weekend’s plan of attack for Jared Miley Racing consists of first debuting a brand new 2011 car with a spec engine for practice tomorrow night; but then switching back to ‘old reliable’ (Roaring Knob’s winning Rocket) for racing on Friday. Miley currently sits 2nd in the UFO standings entering this weekend’s event. He is a mere thirty six and a half points behind current points leader, Devin Friese.
Gregg Satterlee will look to use his recent ‘World 100’ show-making momentum to his advantage this weekend and find victory lane at Pittsburgh’s Pennsylvania Motor Speedway. The Rochester Mills native will head to the ‘Tri-Star Pittsburgher’ this Friday and Saturday with hopes of sweeping super late model action and taking home all nine grand. Satterlee’s original plans were to follow the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series’ Mid-Atlantic swing through Maryland and Virginia, but a mid week decision change would lead the Satterlee Fuels 22 in a different direction. Satterlee is coming off a 25th place finish at Eldora Speedway’s, World 100. There were 112 entries at that event.
Mike Reft may not be a super late model competitor like teammates, Satterlee and Miley; but his goals and determination to win are set just as high and just as clear. The FASTRAK/Pro Late Model 30 lap feature event will pay $800 to win on Saturday night, September 17th; adding to the already full list of must see ‘Pittsburgher’ events. Reft wrapped up his ‘regular season’ with a third place finish in the overall PPMS FASTRAK/Pro Late Model standings. Unfortunately, a sudden illness and high fever kept the 17 year old, Baldwin high school senior from competing last week; ending his hopes of a FASTRAK/Pro Late Model Track Championship. Perhaps the weekend off will actually prove to be just what the doctor ordered; allowing Reft to enter victory lane this weekend and earn $800 to go a long with a ‘Pittsburgher’ title!
