Dietz/Godfrey Ready for World of Outlaws Debut
By Fully Injected Motorsports:
YORK, PA. (September 28, 2016) – After what turned out to be a successful weekend in Central Pennsylvania, finishing just outside of the top-ten during the Third Annual Dirt Classic at Lincoln Speedway, York native Chase Dietz and car owner Troy Godfrey will make their next big leap and enter World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series competition for the first time this season; anxious to join the Greatest Show On Dirt during the 54th Annual Champion Racing Oil National Open at Williams Grove Speedway.
Chase Dietz, pilot of the Troy Godfrey-owned/Godfrey Racing Engines/DTS/No. 5 entry, will join the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series during all three nights of the National Open on Thursday through Saturday, September 29-October 1, chasing an A-main start after finishing third during the C-main in 2015.
“I can’t thank Troy Godfrey enough for this opportunity. We built a new car for this deal, so I’m really excited” Chase Dietz explained. “This will be our first-ever World of Outlaws start as a team. What better way to make a debut than the National Open. I had an opportunity to race in that event last year with the Gobrecht team. It was a great experience, so hopefully the Godfrey Team and I have a similar experience this year. We’re going to race as hard as we can all three nights and see what we can do.”
Chase Dietz will enter National Open weekend at Williams Grove Speedway with one victory on the season in Central Pennsylvania. The third generation racer earned a win during competition at the Lincoln Speedway in Abbottstown on July 16.
Dietz finished 11th during the $20,000-to-win, Third Annual Dirt Classic at Lincoln Speedway on Saturday, September 24; his most recent start in the Pigeon Hills, as well as Central Pennsylvania. A second and third place finish during heat race competition set up the A-main qualification. There were 48 cars entered.
“I’m proud of what we accomplished during the Dirt Classic,” Dietz explained. “That was a tough program with drivers from all over the country. To finish that high against that level of competition is really motivating. Hopefully Mother Nature cooperates and allows us to race all three nights this weekend.”
