Max Stambaugh ends Central PA swing with top-ten at Susquehanna; Open Wheel Championships next
By Fully Injected Motorsports:
ELIDA, OH (August 22, 2017) – Max Stambaugh’s visit to Central Pennsylvania with the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions proved satisfactory for the leading Rookie of the Year contender, qualifying for all four contested main events, highlighting the four-race swing with a top-ten finish at Susquehanna Speedway in York Haven on Sunday, August 20. “Mad Max” finished tenth, officially, during his first-ever visit to the 4/10-mile oval, advancing one position after starting 11th on the feature grid.
“We felt pretty good on Sunday at Susquehanna,” Stambaugh said, pilot of the Ray Marshall Motorsports/Buckeye Machine Fabricators, Inc./Fastenal of Kenton/No. 33M. “We had our ups and downs the entire weekend, but when it was all said and done, we learned a lot and still enjoyed the experience. It’s definitely a tough place to race. We knew that going in, but we kept plugging away and did what we could to get in the shows.”
Up next, Max Stambaugh and Ray Marshall Motorsports will prepare for their return to Atomic Speedway in Chillicothe, Ohio. The annual Open Wheel Championships will headline competition at the southern Ohio high banks, featuring two, full programs awarding $5,000 on Friday, August 25, and $10,000 on Saturday, August 26.
Stambaugh has two starts at Atomic Speedway in 2017 with the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions, one of which resulting in a top-ten finish in early April.
In addition, the Elida, Ohio, native finished 14th during the Ohio Sprint Speedweek presented by Cometic Gasket finale at Atomic in late June, charging ahead from the outside of row ten.
“We’re pretty excited to get back to Atomic,” Stambaugh explained, who is fourth in the All Star standings. “Not only do we have some moderate success there, it is a little bit closer to home, so there won’t be as much stress on myself and my team. I can’t thank Ray Marshall enough for this opportunity. Despite the ups and downs, we are having a blast. I wouldn’t exchange this opportunity for anything.”
