SENECA, PA (September 8, 2017) – As the summer season continues to come to a close for many racers within the short track community, three events still remain on the 2017 Allegheny Sprint Tour schedule, two of which at the Lernerville Speedway in Sarver, Pennsylvania. The 305 cubic inch-powered, IMCA/Racesaver sprint car series will visit the historic, 4/10-mile oval on September 16, as well as on October 12-14 for the annual Steel City Stampede/DIRTcar Roundup; the final event on the 2017 Lernerville schedule.
Before turning their attention toward Sarver, followers of the Allegheny Sprint Tour will visit Thunder Mountain Speedway near Brookville later this evening. Will Fleming is the most recent competitor to find victory lane during sprint car action at Thunder Mountain, claiming the Championship Night victory on Friday, September 1, over Jonathon Jones and Brian Wright. The double-points win also sealed the 2017 Thunder Mountain Speedway track championship for the Brookeville native; a final margin of victory equaling 50 markers over Wright and Jones.
As an added bonus for participating race teams, Allegheny Sprint Tour competitors were also eligible for special awards during their recent weekend of action including an award for the longest tow worth $100, as well as $50 for each heat race winner.
“This is our way of encouraging other teams to participate,” Jake Gomola explained, Allegheny Sprint Tour founder. “We are doing our best to give teams from other areas a reason to make the tow and race with us. We still have some racing left to do this year. I’m certain our proud partners will continue to support these special awards. We hope to attract competitive fields for the rest of the season.”
