Brock Zearfoss earns Port Royal title after Tuscarora 50 podium run
By Fully Injected Motorsports:
JONESTOWN, PA (September 12, 2017) – Capping off an impressive Port Royal Speedway campaign in 2017, the “Jonestown Jet” Brock Zearfoss is now a Port Royal Speedway track champion, clinching his first-ever title with a third place run during the 50th Annual Tuscarora 50 against the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions.
Adding a little extra drama to the largest event in Port Royal Speedway history, Zearfoss trailed Port Royal’s Dylan Cisney by 85 points in the championship as green flags flew on Saturday night for the $50,000 finale. A late race charge from row five secured his fate, winning the overall Port Royal Speedway title by a mere-five markers.
There were 66 entries for the 50th Annual Tuscarora 50. Zearfoss locked himself into the Central Pennsylvania blockbuster by finishing second during his respective heat race, initiating the evening with the eighth fastest time during his respective group of qualifiers.
“What a weekend. I really don’t know what to say,” Zearfoss said, pilot of the Brock Zearfoss Racing/Moose’s LZ Bar & Grill/Meckley’s Limestone/Central Builders Supply Co./Berkebile Oil Company/BAPS Auto Paint & Supply/No. 3Z. “This was a total team effort all weekend long. I’m proud of everyone. We had a goal this year and that was to win races and earn a track championship. We’ve accomplished both of those and I’m thrilled. We still have plenty of big races ahead. I don’t want to relax just yet, but this definitely boosts our confidence even more.”
Brock Zearfoss will continue his 2017 campaign with a pair of events in Central Pennsylvania, one of which a rematch against the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions at Selinsgrove Speedway. The Jonestown, Pennsylvania, native will visit Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg on Friday, September 15, followed by a trip to Selinsgrove Speedway near Selinsgrove on Saturday, September 16. The Selinsgrove Speedway visit holds an $8,000 potential; the winner’s share for the Jim Nace Memorial/National Open with the Arctic Cat All Stars.
Like prior starts, Zearfoss will pilot the Aaron Long-owned No. 58 during his Williams Grove Speedway visit. The Zearfoss/Long combo own two victories at The Grove in 2017, one of which against the Greatest Show On Dirt.
