Caleb Armstrong earns Tuscarora 50 A-main start; Jim Nace Memorial next on All Star schedule

NEW CASTLE, IN (September 12, 2017) – While battling some of the nation’s elite, New Castle, Indiana’s Caleb Armstrong represented the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions proudly during his recent trip to the Port Royal (PA) Speedway “Speed Palace,” qualifying for the largest event in the history of the facility – the 50th Annual Tuscarora 50.
Armstrong, who is currently third in the Arctic Cat All Star championship chase, was scored 24th during the 50-lap, $50,000-to-win, Tuscarora weekend finale, earning a spot in the Central Pennsylvania blockbuster by finishing fourth during the evening’s B-main. The second year, All Star traveler was one position shy of qualifying for the Tuscarora 50 main event through his respective heat race.
“We were really proud to make the show on Saturday night, especially after failing to make it out of the C-main on Friday,” Armstrong stated, pilot of the Baker Crop Insurance/Armstrong Farms/Neal Metal Recycling/No. 7. “That’s a whole different world out there. Not only were we up against the Pennsylvania Posse, but we also had to race against a bunch of fast teams from the Midwest. It was definitely a fun atmosphere. We still have a lot to learn about Central Pennsylvania and the big half-miles. We have two more this weekend, so we’ll put our notes from Port Royal to the test.”
With one last chance to conquer Central Pennsylvania soil, Caleb Armstrong will return to the Keystone State with the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions during the upcoming weekend, set to visit Selinsgrove Speedway and Bedford Fairgrounds Speedway on Saturday and Sunday, September 16-17, respectively. Highlighting his trip back to Pennsylvania Posse Country will be the 35th Annual Jim Nace Memorial/National Open at Selinsgrove Speedway awarding an $8,000 top prize; the track’s final event of the 2017 season.
Unlike Selinsgrove Speedway, which has yet to host an Arctic Cat All Star event in 2017, Armstrong has one start at the Bedford half-mile this season and was scored 23rd; the result of contact with another racer after starting from the outside-pole position.
“Bedford wasn’t too kind to us last time we were there, but we’ve long put that behind us,” Armstrong said. “Our goal is to pick up right where we left off and get up front. I know we have the speed to make that happen. We’ll see what we can do.”
