Zearfoss goes three-for-three during Kings Royal weekend; Central PA WoO stretch next
By Fully Injected Motorsports:
JONESTOWN, Pa. (July 16, 2018) – Racing head-to-head with the nation’s finest, Brock Zearfoss’ 2018 Kings Royal campaign resulted in success, qualifying for all three programs during the three-day schedule, highlighting the prestigious weekend with a 16th place finish during the $50,000-to-win, 40-lap finale on Saturday, July 14. It was Zearfoss’ first-ever visit to the crown jewel event, bettering most of the 51 cars entered for action on Saturday night at the World’s Greatest Dirt Track.
“What an effort by my team,” Zearfoss said, driver of the Brock Zearfoss Racing/Moose’s LZ Bar & Grill/Meckley’s Limestone/Central Builders Supply Co./Berkebile Oil Company/BAPS Auto Paint & Supply/No. 3Z sprint car. “We basically had nothing to lose, but it was still in the back of our heads that we wanted to perform well and represent our Pennsylvania fans at the highest level. Our goal was to come out here, be competitive each and every night, and qualify for all three events. I think we accomplished our mission. We still have a lot to learn about Eldora Speedway, but with everything considered, I think it was a pretty bad ass weekend for our team.”
Before finishing 16th in the Kings Royal finale, Zearfoss entered action during each of the preliminary programs over Kings Royal weekend including Jokers Wild on Thursday and the Knight Before the Kings Royal on Friday. The Jonestown, Pa., native finished 22nd and 19th, respectively, qualifying for Thursday’s main event with a fifth place finish during heat race competition.
Although forced to race in Friday’s Last Chance Showdown, Zearfoss transferred successfully and drove on to finish 19th after starting 24th during the 30-lap A-main. The “Jonestown Jet” finished third during Saturday’s heat race to qualify for the $50,000-to-win finale.
Brock Zearfoss Racing will continue their 2018 campaign with a three-race stretch of World of Outlaws competition in Central Pennsylvania, first joining the Greatest Show On Dirt at the “Fabulous” Lincoln Speedway on Thursday, July 19.
Action will continue on Friday and Saturday, July 20 & 21, with the Williams Grove Speedway Summer Nationals awarding $20,000 on Saturday night. Zearfoss is the defending Summer Nationals preliminary winner, scoring $8,000 against the Greatest Show On Dirt on July 21, 2017. It was Zearfoss’ first-ever triumph against the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series, leading the final nine circuits while holding off charges by David Gravel and nine-time Series champion, Donny Schatz.
