Brent Marks ends Knoxville Nationals campaign with B-main appearance; North Dakota next
By Fully Injected Motorsports:
MYERSTOWN, Pa. (August 13, 2018) – Nearly earning another Knoxville Nationals main event start, the “Myerstown Missile” Brent Marks ended his 2018 Knoxville Nationals campaign just four positions shy of sprint car racing’s biggest stage, ultimately concluding his Iowa trip eighth in Saturday’s Knoxville Nationals B-main after starting 16th.
“It wasn’t the Nationals that we wanted, but we made a great effort during Saturday’s B-main,” Brent Marks said, a two-time World of Outlaws winner thus far in 2018. “Our preliminary night hurt us in the long run. We still had an opportunity to qualify for Saturday’s feature on Friday, but we came up a little short. We’ll shake this off and move forward. We still have a lot of racing ahead of us. I’m excited to get back to North Dakota and have some fun at River Cities and Red River Valley.”
Marks, driver of the Brent Marks Racing/M&M Painting & Construction/BAPS Auto Paint & Supply/Eagle Hotel/No. 19 sprint car, kicked-off his Knoxville Nationals weekend with a tenth place finish during preliminary B-main action on Wednesday, August 8. An overall Knoxville Nationals point total equalling outside of the top-26 forced Marks to compete in Friday’s last chance program where he finished tenth during the “Hard Knox” A-main. The top-ten secured Marks’ place in Saturday’s B-main.
Brent Marks and Brent Marks Racing will continue their sophomore campaign with the Greatest Show On Dirt with a doubleheader in North Dakota, set to visit River Cities Speedway and Red River Valley Speedway on Friday and Saturday, August 17 & 18, respectively. The “Myerstown Missile” is currently ninth in the World of Outlaws championship standings padded by two victories and 20 top-ten finishes. Marks owns World of Outlaws victories at Wilmot (Wis.) Raceway and Weedsport (N.Y.) Speedway.
