Former World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series regular, Johnny Herrera, picked up the opening night victory of the ASCS Lone Star Sprint Nationals at Lone Star Speedway in Kilgore, Texas. The rough race surface made racing extra tricky last night; as only 13 drivers of the original 24 starters were able to finish the event. Johnny Herrera locked himself into the Saturday night $12,000 to win finale redraw because of his win; along with Seth Bergman, Matt Covington, and Tim Crawley, because of their respective finishes 2nd through 4th.
Action will pick back up tonight for night no. 2 of the Lone Star Sprint Nationals.
