GRAIN VALLEY, Mo. (February 14, 2022) – “Blackjack” Brian Brown made the best of his weather-shortened campaign in the Sunshine State, and despite a tough beginning to his three-race World of Outlaws stint that resulted in Brown missing Thursday’s program due to adverse track conditions, the Grain Valley, Missouri, native rebounded and succeeded in earning a pair of main event starts, highlighting his DIRTcar Nationals run with a 14th-place score in the weekend finale on Saturday, February 12.
For Brown, driver of the Brian Brown Racing/Casey’s/FVP/Andy’s Frozen Custard/Impact Signs Awnings and Wraps/Rowdy Energy/No. 21 sprint car, the 14th-place outcome was a great momentum shift, as the five-time Knoxville Raceway track champion was scored 20th in Friday’s main event after starting on the outside of row seven.
“Although our final results did not show it, I feel like it was a very successful weekend for our team. We had three crew members that never worked together and you would’ve never known it. That just proves what kind of chemistry we have right now. Our Casey’s/FVP No. 21 showed speed at times…just a tad unlucky where we could have used it,” Brian Brown explained. “Missing the front row invert by one position on Friday, and having a bad pill draw on Saturday, were a few things that could have made a huge difference in our track position and results.”
The DIRTcar Nationals schedule, slated for Tuesday through Saturday, February 8-12, originally featured a pair of All Star Circuit of Champions programs, but Mother Nature stepped in and intervened resulting in back-to-back cancellations on Tuesday and Wednesday. Mother Nature’s persistence ultimately led to the aforementioned adverse conditions on Thursday.
“Overall, despite the distractions, it was a great way to get our season activated,” Brown continued. “I’m looking forward to our visits to Mississippi and Louisiana with the Outlaws.”
ON DECK:
Brian Brown and Brian Brown Racing will continue their 2022 open wheel campaign with a two-day World of Outlaws swing through Mississippi and Louisiana on Friday and Saturday, February 25-26. Action will kick-off at Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, Mississippi, on Friday, followed by “Dirt on the Rev” at The Rev in Monroe, Louisiana, on Saturday.
