CARLISLE, Pa. (September 5, 2023) – For the first time this season, the Greatest Show On Dirt invaded the Pacific Northwest, and although a long way from home for Lebanon, Indiana’s Spencer Bayston, the trip to Washington brought along its fair share of success, highlighting his four-race Labor Day weekend agenda with two top-ten finishes, the most notable being a seventh-place score in Skagit Speedway’s $26,000-to-win Sage Fruit Sagit Nationals finale on Saturday, September 2.
In addition, Bayston, ace of the CJB Motorsports, TrueTimber Camo, Rothco, JRC Transportation, Nyce Crete and Landis, Ecynbro Trucking, C&S Lawn and Landscape, Kistler Engines, No. 5 sprint car, finished fifth in a Skagit Nationals preliminary program, doing so to open the weekend on Thursday, August 31. The former World of Outlaws Rookie of the Year battled as high as fourth in his top-five pursuit, losing a position to eventual winner, Sheldon Haudenschild, on lap 21.
Other Labor Day weekend results for Spencer Bayston and CJB Motorsports include a 16th-place score in night two of the Skagit Nationals on Friday, September 1, followed by a 14th-place score at Grays Harbor Raceway on Monday, September 4.
“It’s been a somewhat challenging West Coast swing so far, but I’m confident we’ll get our program where it needs to be,” Spencer Bayston said. “We’re heading into the homestretch of our season, so it’s important to us to capitalize. I have a great team, and it’s their hard work and dedication that I admire. We’ll turn our focus to Silver Dollar Speedway and work to leave Chico with a $25,000 payday.”
ON DECK:
Spencer Bayston and CJB Motorsports will continue their 2023 World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series campaign with an invasion of California, as Chico’s Silver Dollar Speedway will host the 69th Gold Cup Race of Champions. The three-night (September 7-9) event features split-field prelims on Thursday and Friday before concluding with Saturday’s $25,000-to-win finale.
