FOREST, Ohio (July 8, 2024) – Matt Westfall and Ray Marshall Motorsports made the most of their holiday campaign, activating the extended weekend with a start at Waynesfield Raceway Park on July 3, followed by back-to-back USAC National starts at Lincoln Park Speedway in Putnamville, Indiana, on July 5-6. Although a tough pair of nights in Putnamville, highlighting the USAC pair with an 18th-place score on Friday, the team ultimately activated their stretch with a key result on Wednesday.
Westfall, ace of Ray Marshall’s Buckeye Machine Fabricators Inc, Hempy Water, DPI Ink, Wix Filters, Rod End Supply, Allstar Performance, No. 33M sprint car, finished second at the Buckeye State bullring, nearly winning the event after growing a two-second lead. Caution flags would erase Westfalls’ commanding margin, and although the Pleasant Hill, Ohio, native returned to green with an impressive restart, an eventual run in with lapped traffic would prove his demise.
Westfall’s USAC National Sprint Cars commitments will not resume until July 26, as Indiana Sprint Week is set to activate with a return visit to Lincoln Park Speedway. ISW will visit Lincoln Park, Kokomo, Lawrenceburg, Circle City, Terre Haute, Bloomington, and Tri-State in consecutive fashion.
“A so-so weekend for our Ray Marshall Motorsports team. Had a hard time building some momentum at Lincoln Park, but we’ll get another shot when we return there for Indiana Sprint Week,” Westfall expressed. “Indiana Sprint Week is a big deal and we look forward to being a part of it. We’re hoping for a solid week and hopefully pad our stat book a little bit more.”
