FOREST, Ohio (August 26, 2024) – It was a rocky start to their 2024 Kokomo Smackdown campaign at Kokomo Speedway in Kokomo, Indiana, but Matt Westfall and Ray Marshall Motorsports recovered in a hurry, not only qualifying for the weekend’s $30,000-to-win finale on Saturday, August 24, but the Forest, Ohio-based team ultimately Hard Charged their way to a top-15 finish – 15th at the line after starting 24th.
Adding some drama to their Saturday night performance, Westfall was forced to race his way into the Kokomo Smackdown main event, securing the 24th starting position with the Semi Feature’s final transfer spot.
The aforementioned Hard Charging Performance may be just what the team needed, as the momentum kick may prove beneficial in their upcoming return to Texas and Arkansas in early September.
Westfall and RMM are prior USAC winners at Texarkana 67 Speedway, notching a $10,000 payday in September 2023.
“It was a tough start to our week with not qualifying for the preliminaries, but we put it all together when it counted most. We still wanted more out of our finish, but considering how things started, we’ll take it,” Westfall, ace of Ray Marshall’s Buckeye Machine Fabricators Inc, Hempy Water, DPI Ink, Wix Filters, Rod End Supply, Allstar Performance, No. 33M sprint car, stated. “Can’t thank Ray Marshall enough for all that he does for this race team. We certainly couldn’t do this without him.”

Matt Westfall and Ray Marshall Motorsports will continue their 2024 USAC National Sprint Cars campaign with a trip to Texas and Arkansas, visiting RPM Speedway in Crandall, Texas, on September 5, followed by a doubleheader at Texarkana 67 Speedway in Texarkana, Arkansas, on September 6-7.
