FOREST, Ohio (October 28, 2024) – It was a weekend to remember for Matt Westfall and Ray Marshall Motorsports, not only securing back-to-back top-ten appearances in USAC’s first-ever visit to Red Dirt Raceway in Meeker, Oklahoma, on October 25-26, but accomplishing a victory along the way – the team’s first USAC triumph of the season, acquired in fantastic fashion.
Westfall, ace of Ray Marshall’s Buckeye Machine Fabricators Inc, Hempy Water, DPI Ink, Wix Filters, Rod End Supply, Allstar Performance, No. 33M sprint car, earned his USAC National Sprint Cars win from the inside of row seven, utilizing the bottom of the speedway to make progress before taking command with seven circuits remaining. The end result was Westfall’s third-ever USAC victory, simultaneously becoming the first driver to climb that far through the field since Kevin Thomas Jr.’s impressive rally from 14th in 2021.
“I call this red ice; there was no grip,” Westfall explained. “There was just one little patch around the bottom that we could get a hold of. Everybody was pretty even and we were pretty good there on the bottom.
“Just can’t thank Ray Marshall enough for this opportunity,” Westfall added. “His love for the sport is unmatched. We knew we had another win in us. I’m glad it all worked out.”
Following their Friday night triumph, Westfall and Ray Marshall raced on to finish tenth to close out their visit to Meeker, earning a heat race victory along the way.
Matt Westfall and Ray Marshall Motorsports’ season win tally now stands at three adding Red Dirt Raceway to a list that already includes Paragon Speedway in Paragon, Indiana, and Waynesfield Raceway Park in Waynesfield, Ohio.
