Scotty Thiel joins forces with Michigan-based Ragged Edge Racing; Aggressive 40-race agenda to activate with ASCS at Volusia Speedway Park

By Fully Injected Motorsports:

SHEBOYGAN, Wis. (January 28, 2025) – The last few months were filled with uncertainty for “Big Wheel” Scotty Thiel, but the 2024 IRA Outlaw Sprint Series champion has a new home, joining forces with Shannon Eifert and Jay Woolsey of Ragged Edge Racing for an aggressive 40-race campaign that is set to activate in the ASCS National Tour DIRTcar Nationals opener at Volusia Speedway Park in Barberville, Florida, on Thursday, January 30. The ASCS National Tour will spend three days at the “World’s Fastest Half-Mile,” all of which culminating with a $12,000-to-win finale on Saturday, February 1.

“It’s been a busy last few weeks ironing out the details in time for our trip to Florida, but I’m excited for the opportunity to drive the Home Pro Roofing | Professional Plating No. 51 this season,” Scotty Thiel stated. “Shannon [Eifert] and Jay [Woolsey] reached out to me in early January asking if I would be interested in joining their program and I was eager to talk. We each had our own ideas of what we wanted as far as schedule, and after some back and forth we were able to map out something that made sense for everyone. I think I speak for the whole team when I say I’m ready to get started.”

Once action at Volusia Speedway Park is complete, Scotty Thiel and Ragged Edge Racing will continue their 2025 Florida visit with a trio of United Sprint Car Series (USCS) starts at Hendry County Motorsports Park in Clewiston, Florida, on February 6-8. February 6 will feature a full practice session followed by back-to-back nights of competition.

“We plan to compete in roughly 40 races, mixing it up between 410 and 360 starts while joining ASCS, USCS, GLSS, High Limit Racing, World of Outlaws, IRA, and FAST,” Thiel added. “Technically, we don’t have an exact schedule mapped out, but that will give us the advantage of hitting and missing as the season progresses. Shannon and Jay are passionate people and we’re privileged to be surrounded by a lot of great support. Every new team goes through some gelling time, but I’m confident we’ll mold quickly. Our goal is to go out and be as competitive as we can night in and night out and ultimately win races…no matter the track or level that we are racing at.”

As noted, Scotty Thiel will roll into the new year fresh off of an IRA Outlaw Sprint Series championship, earning his most recent IRA feature triumph at the Plymouth Dirt Track in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, on Saturday, September 28.
