HEARTBREAK HOTEL: Justin Whittall’s winning run deflated; The Grove and Port to continue July schedule
By Fully Injected Motorsports:
VINCENTOWN, N.J. (July 14, 2025) – Justin Whittall and JW Motorsports were well on their way to victory Saturday night at the Port Royal Speedway “Speed Palace,” but unfortunately, Lady Luck stepped in and canceled his plans, ultimately losing a right rear tire with less than a full circuit remaining.
Whittall, ace of his family-owned RBH Group, Turret Engineering, JG Kronenberger Fine Jewelry, Mid-Atlantic Transport, Pioneer Auto Body, Worldwide Bearings, Enterprise, Prime Composite Innovations, Milky Way Restaurant, No. 67 sprint car, started eighth on Port Royal’s Jim Kline Tribute lineup, battling his way to the front before taking command over Mark Smith on lap 18. From that point forward, it was smooth sailing for the New Jersey wheelman, building his lead to almost eight seconds by the time the white flag finally waved. As noted, the white flag proved unlucky, losing his right rear by the midpoint of the first two corners.
“That’s a tough one to swallow…we wanted that one really bad, especially with it paying $10,022,” Whittall, who is chasing a first-ever Port Royal track championship, said. “We’ve been driving our butts off to put ourselves in winning positions. They say the first one is always toughest to get, and I thought we were going to get that one. Regardless, we know our potential and we know what we’re capable of. We’ll give it another try this weekend.”
Despite the weekend outcome, Whittall remains in charge of Port Royal’s sprint car championship, holding a 15-point lead over National Sprint Car Hall of Famer, Lance Dewease.
