STILL DANCIN’: Justin Sanders scores Gold Cup prelim victory before runner-up in Gold Cup finale; Douglas County and Skagit ahead
By Fully Injected Motorsports:
KNOXVILLE, Iowa (August 25, 2025) – Justin Sanders’ “Super Sub” campaign with Ridge & Sons Racing (RSR) has been borderline remarkable, not only conquering action in a recent High Limit Racing start at Placerville Speedway in Placerville, California, but continuing on with a Gold Cup Race of Champions preliminary triumph at Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico, California, on Friday, August 22. Sanders, a California native himself, started seventh on the preliminary lineup, kicking things off with the second-fastest qualifying time, racing on to finish fourth in his respective heat race. As expressed, the victory was Sanders’ second with RSR, helping the team bump their overall win count to nine on the season – one of which a $100,000 score at Port Royal Speedway.
Although just short of matching his preliminary outcome, Sanders, the current ace of Brian and Lisa Ridge’s Power Plus, Folkens Brothers Trucking, Don Long & STC, B And L Holdings, American Table, Commercial Edge, Rasmusson Service Center, The P.O. Box, Bargain Barn, No. 87 sprint car, raced on to finish second in the $100,071-to-win Gold Cup Race of Champions finale on Saturday, August 23, actually leading laps 5-22 before surrendering the top spot to eventual winner Corey Day. Sanders started from the outside-pole position, “locking in” via Friday’s preliminary performance.
Despite missing the $100+ payday by one position, Sanders’ runner-up achievement allowed RSR to collect a cool $25,000. Justin Sanders will continue his RSR tenure through Skagit Speedway’s upcoming Skagit Nationals.
“We’re extremely proud of what Justin [Sanders] has been able to achieve. We were confident heading to the West Coast considering his accolades, but he’s been able to surpass all expectations and we’re elated. He’s molded with Aaron [Reutzel] and the team so well,” Brian Ridge expressed. “We’re going to have Justin in the car through Skagit. At that time, Aaron should be ready to go…just in time for our return to Port Royal Speedway.”
