Rochester Mills, Pennsylvania native and Fully Injected teamster – Gregg Satterlee – opened up his 2012 season this past weekend at Screven Motor Speedway’s annual ‘Winter Freeze.’ The super late model hotshoe traveled to Sylvania, Georgia to join the World of Outlaws Late Model Series in what was the first event of the 2012 season for the national tour. Over fifty cars had signed in for the two day event paying $20,000 to the winner – including defending World of Outlaws Champion Rick Eckert.
Satterlee’s preliminary effort was not quite good enough to get him qualified him for the sixty lap main event on Saturday night. The Western Pennsylvania native qualified 20th fastest of the 56 super late model entries – but unfortunately was not able to transfer from his respective heat race to the 60 lap finale. The result was competing in a 10 lap – B Main that qualified two drivers to the A-main starting lineup. His dominating performance in ‘B Main’ number three was more than enough to put the black, no. 22, Rocket in the ‘Winter Freeze’ 60 lap feature.
Satterlee’s first main event of the season ended 34 laps before he wanted it to. His result was a 27th place finish after making accidental contact with another car on lap 26. With passing at a minimum due to the abrasive track conditions, Satterlee decided to retire from the event.
Three consecutive races will take place this weekend -Thursday, Friday, and Saturday- at Bubba Raceway Park in Ocala, Florida – all sanctioned by the World of Outlaws Late Model Series. Satterlee, and the entire ’22’ operation, plan to be in attendance; hoping to regain momentum that was lost in the blistering cold this past weekend!
Stay tuned!
