Ringgold, Pennsylvania’s Joe Martin and JM2 Motorsports earned their first crate late model victory of the season Friday night (May 11th) at Dog Hollow Speedway in Strongstown, Pennsylvania! Martin’s FASTRAK/crate late model victory was done in dominate fashion; grabbing the lead before the half-way point of the 20 lap main event and never looking back. Andrew Wylie, who actually built Joe Martin’s 2012 late model, finished 2nd in the event; allowing Team Wylie to go 1-2 at Dog Hollow Speedway. The Indiana County oval hosts FASTRAK crate late model action on a weekly basis, and will also host another FASTRAK Northeast Touring Series event later in the season. Martin is a full-time competitor with the FASTRAK Northeast Touring Series, and also spends his weekend’s racing at various tracks that host weekly FASTRAK competition.
Martin was actually in action three times this past weekend; competing at Pittsburgh’s Pennsylvania Motor Speedway on Saturday evening, and Eriez Speedway on Sunday evening after his Dog Hollow Speedway appearance on Friday.
Saturday’s event at PPMS was the first round of seven scheduled FASTRAK/Pro Late Model ‘Sizzler Series’ events at the ‘Monster Half Mile’ near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The Martin Farms/Wylie ’55’ was scheduled to start 11th in the Pro Late Model ‘Sizzler Series’ event worth $1,000, but, it eventually would have to be cancelled and rescheduled due to a power outage.
Sunday’s event at Eriez Speedway was a $1,200-to-win FASTRAK Northeast Touring Series sanctioned event. After finishing second in their respective heat race at the Erie, PA oval, the JM2 Motorsports team was racing in a top 10 position when caught up in feature race accident. After making necessary repairs and returning to the track, Martin would be involved in another on track accident; forcing the 2011 Gary Knollinger ‘Golden Award’ Winner to settle for an 18th place finish with a tore up racecar.
This weekend, Joe Martin will return to business as usual. The Fully Injected driver will be racing at Dog Hollow Speedway on Friday night, May 18th, before making a trip south to Imperial, Pennsylvania’s Pennsylvania Motor Speedway on Saturday evening, May 19th. On Sunday, May 20th, the JM2 Motorsports team looks to head north into Canada, as the FASTRAK Northeast Touring Series is hosting a $2,000-t0-win event at Humberstone Speedway in Port Colborne, Ontario!
