KNOXVILLE, Iowa (May 20, 2024) – “A-Aron” Aaron Reutzel and Ridge & Sons Racing (RSR) were less than a second from a double win weekend on Friday and Saturday, May 17-18, concluding their campaign through the Hawkeye State with a victory on Friday, May 17, followed by a runner-up performance on Saturday, May 18. For Reutzel, the victory, accomplished at Lee County Speedway during POWRi 410 Outlaw competition, bumped his season win total to four, adding the Donnellson, Iowa, facility to a list that already includes Knoxville Raceway and East Bay Raceway Park.
Adding to his weekend flare, Reutzel’s Lee County “Hawkeye Hustle” triumph was accomplished in fantastic fashion, driving on from the pole position to win by a margin of victory surpassing the seven second mark. Not to mention, the Friday night score earned the Clute, Texas, native a $5,000 payday.
As hinted, Reutzel’s Saturday outcome at the Sprint Car Capital of the World – Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa – was just short, finishing second by less than a second to Garet Williamson. Reutzel drag raced Williamson to the line, securing the runner-up spot just two circuits prior over Austin McCarl. The three-time All Star Circuit of Champions champion started sixth on the grid.
“We tried a different car and I think we might be onto something with this car handling the shorter tracks better,” said an elated Aaron Reutzel, driver of the Folkens Brothers Trucking, Don Long & STC, B And L Holdings, No. 87 sprint car. “It seemed like I could run anywhere with so much drive off the corners.”
