KNOXVILLE, Iowa (May 6, 2024) – A delayed start due to Mother Nature, but the historic Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa, finally activated its 2024 season, and it was Clute, Texas’ own Aaron Reutzel who benefited the most, earning the evening’s 410 Sprint Car victory for a $6,000 payday.
Reutzel, ace of Brian and Lisa Ridge’s Folkens Brothers Trucking, Don Long & STC, B And L Holdings, American Table, Commercial Edge, No. 87 sprint car, started fourth in Saturday’s 71st Knoxville Raceway lidlifter, taking command on lap three and never looking back.
Although a sound lead, nonetheless, Austin McCarl, a former Knoxville Raceway track champion, would apply some pressure late in traffic, that until a caution with three to go ultimately cleared the mess for Reutzel. The three-time All Star Circuit of Champions champion drove on to secure the tenth Knoxville triumph of his career.
Pulling double duty, Reutzel was a factor in the 360 Sprint Car main event, as well, that until a mechanical hiccup ended his potential for a Saturday night sweep.
The Knoxville Raceway score resulted in Reutzel’s second triumph of the season, opening the year with an East Bay Raceway Park victory on Wednesday, February 14.
“We had two phenomenal racecars tonight,” said Reutzel, referring to his 360 mount. “Our motor ripped. It was a pretty good night for the first race here. The night went smooth. It played out really well. I’m super happy to be racing back at Knoxville. It makes racing fun again. Thanks to the fans for coming out and sticking out the cold weather.”
