ST. HELENA, Calif. (May 14, 2018) – After a pair of tough starts at the legendary Eldora Speedway, finishing 24th and 18th, respectively, during #LetsRaceTwo weekend at “The Big E,” St. Helena, California’s Rico Abreu rebounded for a top-ten finish with the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series on Sunday evening at Tri-State Speedway, advancing from the inside of row six to finish 7th, ultimately clinching his seventh top-ten finish of the 2018 season.
Facing-off against 42 other entries on Sunday night at the high-banked, quarter-mile oval, Abreu solidified his A-main starting position by finishing third during his respective heat race. The driver of the Rico Abreu Racing/Abreu Vineyards/Lucas Oil/Rhino Wipe/Alpinestars/Priority Aviation/No. 24 sprint car kicked-off his evening by recording the sixth fastest time during his respective group of qualifying time trials. The overall result increased Abreu’s 2018 top-ten count to four against The Greatest Show On Dirt.
Although missing the top-ten on both nights, Abreu’s Eldora visit ended with two main event starts, qualifying for Saturday night’s $10,000-to-win, #LetsRaceTwo finale with a fourth place finish during heat race competition.
“The car was good all weekend, we just need to find a way to get a little more forward bite,” Abreu explained. “Hats off to my guys. They work their tails off and I really do appreciate it. I’m not exactly sure what our plan of attack will be for this weekend. We are going to keep our eye on the weather and make a game plan closer to Friday. We’ll try our best to keep all of our fans in the loop.”
Rico Abreu’s upcoming schedule will remain in question until the weekend inches closer. Plans will become available on social media later in the week.
