ST. HELENA, Calif. (October 18, 2021) – Rico Abreu’s open wheel season is closing down rapidly, but the action is far from over.

Abreu, driver of the Rico Abreu/Curb Agajanian Racing/Rowdy Energy/Curb Records/Lucas Oil Products/Self Made Racing/XYZ Machining/Stadelhofer Construction/No. 24 sprint car, will continue his 2021 campaign with the Abreu Vineyards Trophy Cup 27 presented by Rudeen Racing at Tulare’s Thunderbowl Raceway on Thursday through Saturday, October 21-23. Certainly a highlight on the West Coast, the three-day blockbuster will feature three complete programs each awarding $4,000 to the main event winner. The weekend’s overall points champion will receive an additional $15,000 bonus.

No stranger to Tulare’s historic Trophy Cup, Abreu was the 2019 event champion, actually sweeping the entire three-day program to earn $26,000. Abreu’s history making Trophy Cup performance had never been accomplished before. He won main events from fifth, tenth, and 17th.

“We’re ready and excited…it’s the Trophy Cup,” Abreu said, a two-time feature winner in 2021, one of which occurring in Knoxville Raceway’s Hard Knox program during the annual Knoxville Nationals. “It’s been a pretty crazy season, but I can’t say enough about my guys. They work hard and I owe it all to them. The travel, the miles, the schedule…none of it is easy but they never complain. I think we have it in us to be in contention for another Trophy Cup win. That’s our goal.”

Despite most of his season’s successes taking shape throughout the Midwest, Abreu does have some recent high marks on the West Coast. During his most recent try, the St. Helena, California-native secured a pair of top-five appearances at Keller Auto Speedway in Hanford, one of which in the annual Cotton Classic featuring the Sprint Car Challenge Tour.

In addition to the aforementioned Hard Knox win, Abreu found his second victory of the season during Eldora’s annual 4-Crown Nationals, earning the All Star Circuit of Champions portion triumph for $6,000.
