Alan Krimes Will Face Nation’s Best at Williams Grove ‘National Open’

Denver, PA (October 1st, 2014) – Alan Krimes will attempt to earn the biggest victory of his career this weekend during the 52nd Annual ‘National Open’ at Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania. The World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series sanctioned event will feature some of the nation’s most premiere sprint car drivers and teams going head-to-head for one of the sport’s most prestigious prizes. The 2014 edition of the ‘National Open’ will feature two full days of World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series competition; kicking off with a full preliminary program on Friday night, October 3rd. Alan Krimes, a Dever, Pennsylvania native and full-time competitor at the Williams Grove Speedway half-mile, will look to not only defend ‘home clay’ during the two-day ‘National Open,’ but also earn that career-first World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series main event victory.
The preliminary program on Friday evening, October 3rd will feature a full World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series program; highlighted with a 25-lap, $8,000-to-win main event. Alan Krimes finished 17th during last year’s ‘National Open’ preliminary main event, after starting the 25-lapper on the outside of row number thirteen.
The 52nd Annual ‘National Open’ weekend will continue on Saturday evening, October 4th with a second full World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series program; this time highlighted with a 40-lap, $50,000-to-win main event. Unfortunately, Alan Krimes did not qualify for last year’s 40-lap finale. The 2014 Lincoln Speedway track champion was forced to retire from the event after not transferring through the ‘Last Chance Showdown.’ There were 62 cars entered.
Krimes, who is currently fourth in the Williams Grove Speedway driver point standings, will be a local heavy favorite during the two-day marquee. The pilot of the Midnite Antiques Motorsports, Conestoga Valley Garage, Wayne Corini, Krimes Racing Engines, VRP Shocks, no. 87 ‘410’ sprint car is a former ‘Mitch Smith Memorial’ winner at the world famous dirt oval, and looks to score another ‘high-dollar’ victory at ‘The Grove’ this weekend.
Alan Krimes recently scored a top-five finish at the Lincoln Speedway in Abbottstown, Pennsylvania last Saturday evening, September 27th; during the inaugural ‘Dirt Classic’ presented by Kasey Kahne. Krimes finished fourth during the $20,000-to-win main event. The Denver native qualified 14th fastest out of the 52 teams that entered, while also earning a podium finish (2nd & 3rd) during each of his respective heat races. Krimes’ time trial effort and heat race finishes were enough to automatically qualify him for the 40-lap main event.
