Port Royal – The richest sprint car event in the east so far this season is set to unfold this Saturday night, April 27, at Port Royal Speedway as the All Star Circuit of Champions sprints invade to take on the Pennsylvania Posse in the lucrative Bob Weikert Memorial.

The race will pay $10,000 to win alone along with $100 to lead each lap of the 30-lap feature, which makes a main event sweep worth $13,000 if one driver can lead each lap.

And with heats paying $100 to win in memory of Jere Reigle and $200 posted for fast time, a sweep of the whole night would net $13,300.

The Weikert Memorial main boasts a whopping purse of nearly $34,000, even paying $500 just to start the prestigious race.

CRANKWERKZ of Carlisle has also posted $100 each to the feature hard charger as well as to the highest driver in Port Royal points who fails to make the main event.

Hanover’s Logan Schuchart, the 20-year old grandson of racing legend Bobby Allen, will pilot a replica of the famous and historical Bob Weikert No. 29 sprinter in the event.

Just some of the drivers expected to compete along with the All Stars include former World of Outlaws and Knoxville Nationals Champion Danny Lasoski, Pat Cannon, Lance Dewease, Rick Lafferty, Doug Esh and others.

The first 200 fans entering the stands for the Weikert Memorial will go home with a Weikert’s Livestock hat, courtesy of Weikert’s Meat Market and Livestock of Fairfield, PA.

As has been customary the last few seasons, 20 five-pound packages of prime Weikert’s beef patties will also be given away to adult general admission ticket holders during the night.

And a continuing custom at the 2013 event will be bicycle giveaways for kids ages 11 and under as five girls and five boys bikes will be raffled off.

General admission gates for the race will open at 5 pm with time trials slated for 7.

Adult general admission is just $20 for the fantastic affair and students ages 12 – 18 will be admitted for just $5.

Greg Hodnett is the defending event winner.

The race is run in honor of late hall of fame sprint car owner Bob Weikert and the Weikert Memorial has become one of the shining lights of both the Port Royal and All Stars seasons over the last few years.
