ASCS Drivers Honored at Awards Banquet

Bryan Hulbert – Chandler, Arizona (November 19, 2012) Bringing a close to the 2012 season, the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by MAVTV gathered at the Wild Horse Pass Hotel and Casino for the Champions Banquet that saw over $200,000 distributed along with an additional $15,000 in contingencies to the ten drivers that make up the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour.

Receiving his third Lucas Oil ASCS presented by MAVTV drivers’ championship, Jason Johnson spoke of the importance of having his cousin Philip as his Crew Chief, comparing the relationship to that seen between Jesse Hockett and Daniel McMillin. Giving credit to his entire crew, Jason reflected on the path that began in 2010 when he and Wife Bobbi Johnson began as car owners and gave thanks to the people who have backed JJR over the years; giving special thanks and respect to current team partner Ricky Stenhouse Jr.

Brad Loyet was named the 2012 Brodix Rookie of the Year while Tony Bruce Jr. received the 2012 Sportsmanship Award. Logan Forler received the Most Improved Driver award while Johnny Herrera was named the Ronald Laney Hard Charger of the Year for the most accumulated Passing Points over the 2012 season.

Gary Wright was also awarded with an award for his contribution to the American Sprint Car Series in which the 30 year racing veteran received a standing ovation from his peers.
