CHILLICOTHE, OH (April 13, 2017) – In just one week, Atomic Speedway’s Spring Fever Weekend, comprised of the Third Annual Buckeye Spring 50 and the first-ever Modstravaganza, will ignite in Chillicothe, Ohio, unleashing three straight days of short track competition headlined with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series and AMRA Modifieds. The three-day spectacle will ignite with the rescheduled Buckeye Spring 50 worth $10,000.
“Things are really starting to take shape. It’s exciting to see the interest build from both the drivers and the fans. I’m expecting a fantastic weekend of racing,” Brad McCown explained, Atomic Speedway promoter. “Like we discussed before, I felt this was a great opportunity to make the best of our rescheduled Lucas Oil event.”
Spring Fever/Modstravaganza Weekend will ignite on Thursday, April 20, with the third running of the Buckeye Spring 50 featuring the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series and AMRA Modifieds. The super late model portion of the program will award $10,000 after 50 green flag laps, with AMRA Modified teams doing battle for a $1,000 top prize and a minimum of $150.
Spring Fever/Modstravaganza Weekend will continue on Friday, April 21, with a second, full program for the AMRA Modifieds, this time awarding $1,500 to the main event winner and a minimum of $175 to each feature starter. The AMRA Sport Modifieds, Street Stocks and Mini Late Models will also be on the evening card, each participating in full programs.
The Spring Fever/Modstravaganza Weekend finale will hit the Atomic Speedway high banks on Saturday, April 22, with a third and final AMRA Modified program, this time boasting a top prize equaling that of $3,000, while also awarding a minimum of $200 to each feature starter. Also participating on Saturday evening will be the Buckeye Outlaw Sprint Series (BOSS) non-wing sprint cars, IMCA Racesaver 305ci sprint cars, AMRA Sport Modifieds for $500, and Legends. The Buckeye Outlaw Sprint Series portion of the program will award a $1,500 top prize; the first of three Atomic Speedway appearances for the non-wing warriors in 2017.
As an added twist to Modstravaganza Weekend, the top-four AMRA Modified feature finishers from Thursday and Friday will be the only drivers locked into Saturday night’s finale, each participating in a dash that will set the first four rows of the Spring Fever/Modstravaganza Weekend finale worth $3,000. All other competitors will earn points through their respective main event finishes on Thursday and Friday, ultimately setting the line-ups for AMRA Modified consolation races on Saturday.
Spring Fever Weekend camping is now available via Trackside Camping adjacent to Atomic Speedway starting at $40 for one night, $50 for two nights, and $65 for all three nights. Primitive sites are also available on the Atomic Speedway grounds starting at $15 per night.
