Back to the Grove for Dietz and Godfrey
By Fully Injected Motorsports:
YORK, PA (September 13, 2016) – Two-time Central Pennsylvania winner and 410 sprint car sophomore Chase Dietz will return to competition this Friday evening, September 16, back at the Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania. Dietz will pilot the Troy Godfrey-owned/Godfrey Racing Engines/DTS/No.5 during his visit to the world-famous paperclip; a venue synonymous to 410 sprint car racing in Central Pennsylvania.
“I’m excited to get back to Williams Grove Speedway. It’s ‘The Grove,’ ya know. A lot of history there and I’m always excited to be a part of it,” Chase Dietz explained. “Troy Godfrey and I have a great relationship and he’s been kind enough to give me multiple opportunities to drive his cars. We’ve had a lot of success together in the 358 ranks, so we’ll do what we can to make the transition. We didn’t have the best of weekends last time we raced together, but we’ve learned from that.”
Chase Dietz and Troy Godfrey made two starts together during Labor Day weekend at Williams Grove Speedway, resulting in a 14th place finish during the Gary Beam Tribute, followed by an 11th place finish during the Billy Kimmel Memorial.
“We just couldn’t get comfortable all weekend,” Dietz explained regarding Labor Day weekend. “We tried a few things, but they weren’t in the right direction. We’re always searching around for new ways to make speed. I’m sure we’ll get pointed in the right direction on Friday.”
The York, Pennsylvania, native and third generation racer owns one top-ten finish at Williams Grove Speedway in 2016; finishing eighth with Godfrey on August 5. Chase Dietz owns two career 410 sprint car victories, each occurring at the Lincoln Speedway in Abbottstown, Pennsylvania.
