2022 World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series Championship Standings: Eighth | 7,906 points [ 564 points behind championship leader, Brad Sweet]

CARLISLE, Pa. (October 10, 2022) – Port Royal Speedway’s Nittany Showdown was an up and down venture for Spencer Bayston and CJB Motorsports, and although the team was forced to cap their weekend ahead of schedule, retiring early in Saturday’s $15,000-to-win finale due to engine trouble, there were plenty of shining moments for the Carlisle, Pennsylvania-based WoO program including a top-ten outcome in Friday’s opener, as well as back-to-back dash appearances.
Bayston, a former Port Royal Nittany Showdown winner with the Greatest Show On Dirt, finished seventh in his top-ten result, maintaining his place among the frontrunners after starting fifth on the feature grid.
Although retiring early, Bayston was a real winning threat on Saturday night, battling with the main event’s leaders before mechanical misfortune took over just before halfway.
“It’s unfortunate we had to take a DNF on Saturday…we had a great effort leading up to that point,” Spencer Bayston explained, driver of the CJB Motorsports, TrueTimber Camo, Signing Day Sports, Bubbly Brands, JRC Transportation, Nyce Crete and Landis, Ecynbro Trucking, C&S Lawn and Landscape, Kistler Engines, No. 5 sprint car. “We had great speed both nights which allowed us to qualify for each of the dashes. That’s always a benefit when you’re trying to make gains on your program. I really feel like we were good enough to lock into a podium finish on Saturday night, but unfortunately, hurting our motor kept that from happening. All we can do is move ahead and work to wrap up these next few weeks with speed and consistency.”
Bayston remains eighth in the World of Outlaws championship standings padded by 36 top-ten finishes and two victories, one of which a $25,000 triumph at Bristol Motor Speedway.
