2022 World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series Championship Standings: Tenth | 1000 points [124 points behind championship leader, David Gravel]

By Fully Injected Motorsports:

CARLISLE, Pa. (March 21, 2022) – The West Coast has been kind to Lebanon, Indiana’s Spencer Bayston, and although the 2022 World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series Rookie of the Year contender participated in only one event during the recent weekend, the result was a good one, securing his second top-five finish of the season with a fifth-place score at Merced Speedway in Merced, California, on Friday, March 18.

To make matters more impressive, it was Bayston’s first-ever visit to Merced, battling ahead two spots after starting seventh on the feature grid. Bayston did his best to secure one more position before the final checkers were displayed, but a late-race battle with “Sunshine” Tyler Courtney would eventually fall in the defending All Star champion’s favor.

Bayston attained his feature starting position by way of second-place result in his respective heat race, eventually finishing seventh in the evening’s dash.

“I really feel like we are starting to hit our stride right now,” Spencer Bayston said, driver of the CJB Motorsports, Signing Day Sports, JRC Transportation, Nyce Crete and Landis, Ecynbro Trucking, C&S Lawn and Landscape, Kistler Engines, The Dunn Group, Highlands’ Power Sports, High Performance Lubricants, No. 5 sprint car. “There’s a lot I’ve learned in these last couple of weeks. We still have a long way to go, but the speed in our car right now is making my job a lot easier.”

With all results considered, Bayston is now tenth in the World of Outlaws championship standings, padded by a trio of top-ten finishes, two of which top-fives.

“We have a lot of racing this next week starting with Bakersfield…I really look forward to finishing this West Coast Swing strong,” Bayston continued. “Looking back at this past off-season, I was most concerned with our races on the West Coast…just knowing how tough it can be to contend up front every week. But to look at our speed and results the last few weekends, I’m confident it’s going to translate into a solid progression all summer.”

ON DECK:
Spencer Bayston and CJB Motorsports will continue their 2022 World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series campaign with another action-packed weekend in the Golden State, this time visiting Bakersfield Speedway in Bakersfield, California, and Perris Auto Speedway in Perris, California, on Friday and Saturday, March 25-26. The West Coast double will conclude all California action until The Greatest Show On Dirt returns to the Pacific in early September.
