Big Game Motorsports Combines for Three Top 10s Despite Rainy Weather

Inside Line Promotions – MECHANICSBURG, Pa. (May 20, 2013) – Mother Nature has been wreaking havoc on Big Game Motorsports and the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series the past few days.

Rain postponed the Gettysburg Clash at Lincoln Speedway in Abbottstown, Pa., from Wednesday to Thursday, the Morgan Cup at Williams Grove Speedway was washed out on Saturday and the lone event at Orange County Fair Speedway in Middletown, N.Y., was postponed from Sunday to Monday because of weather.

“It’s kind of been hampering us a little bit, but it’s hard to control Mother Nature,” Eyecon Trail Cameras driver Craig Dollansky said.

Dollansky and Big Game Treestands teammate Sammy Swindell combined for three top 10s in the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series events that were completed over the weekend.

Swindell continued his hot streak of qualifying in the top three by timing in quickest at Lincoln Speedway and third quickest at Williams Grove on Friday. With Randy Wolfe helping the crew, the Big Game Treestands team put together a podium finish at Lincoln Speedway before earning its 13th top 10 of the season at Williams Grove.

“We’ve made some changes to kind of go back to the basics,” Swindell said. “Bringing Randy Wolfe in has definitely helped. We can talk about a lot of things and go through a bunch of things, and he’s great around there.”

Following a third-place finish at Lincoln Speedway, Swindell narrowly missed the dash at Williams Grove. Had he qualified one position higher or finished one position better in his heat race, Swindell would have advanced. However, his third-place qualifying effort and third-place result in the heat started Swindell 11th in the main event.

“Qualifying third over there at Williams Grove really hurt,” he said. “I tried real hard to get into second. That was the only hope we had to get in the dash.

“We decided to gamble a little bit and go in a different direction and we did a couple of things a bit different just to see how it goes. We learned some things for it. The car was too tight at the start. I fell back to 15th or 16th spot. It was a struggle to pass cars.”

Dollansky overcame a difficult night at Lincoln Speedway, where he missed the heat race inversion by one position in qualifying. While the Eyecon Trail Cameras car advanced to the feature through the heat race, Dollansky struggled in the main event as a bleeder fell out of the left rear wheel.

“That changed things up for us,” he said. “So we had to ride that situation out. I was just struggling with the car.”

Dollansky finished 23rd, which was only the second time in 23 races this season that he didn’t record a top 20.

Friday at Williams Grove went quite a bit better as the Eyecon Trail Cameras car qualified 13th quickest to earn a spot in the heat race inversion. Dollansky claimed the heat race to advance to the dash, where he finished eighth.

“We actually had a pretty decent night going there,” he said after placing eighth in the main event. “We definitely learned some things in the feature. We weren’t bad. I was really looking forward to going back Saturday night to race the Morgan Cup, but we didn’t get the opportunity to.”

In addition to the postponed race at Orange County Fair Speedway on Monday, Dollansky, Swindell and the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series are scheduled to compete on Tuesday at the NAPA Auto Parts Outlaw Classic at New Egypt Speedway in New Egypt, N.J., and Friday with the Outlaw Showdown at The Dirt Track at Charlotte in Concord, N.C.
