Big Game Motorsports Driver Swindell Headed to Short Track Nationals
Inside Line Promotions – GERMANTOWN, Tenn. (Oct. 22, 2013) – In a rare appearance outside of the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series, Big Game Motorsports driver Sammy Swindell is set to tackle the 26th Annual COMP Cams Short Track Nationals presented by Hoosier Tires this weekend.
I-30 Speedway in Little Rock, Ark., hosts the $15,000-to-win Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour event Wednesday through Saturday. Swindell’s qualifying night is scheduled for Thursday at the high-banked, quarter-mile track.
“If everything plays right we win our qualifying night and win Saturday night,” he said. “Make it like a breeze.”
Swindell is one of five drivers to claim multiple Short Track Nationals titles. He picked up a victory in 1990 and then lasted the final laps with only three tires in 2011 for the triumph after his left front tire was flattened during the race.
“I was lapping a car and I was going through the middle passing guys,” he said. “(The car) slipped up just enough that it knocked it off the wheel. You had to be a little careful with it. It wound up that the yellows worked out that I didn’t get in traffic much the rest of the race. You just have to deal with what you have. It was just an accomplishment to finish it and not get in trouble and still be fast.”
Swindell charged the Big Game Treestands car from 14th to eighth place during preliminary action before ending fourth in the finale last season at the Short Track Nationals.
Fellow Big Game Motorsports driver Craig Dollansky and the Eyecon Trail Cameras team is taking the weekend off after competing in a charity event last week.
