Blackjack two-tenths from victory at Knoxville; High Limit highlights coming agenda
By Fully Injected Motorsports:
GRAIN VALLEY, Mo. (May 5, 2025) – “Blackjack” Brian Brown and Brian Brown Racing made things interesting Saturday night at the famed Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa, and although the Higginsville, Missouri, native fell just short in the evening’s A, it was his perfect start to evening – fastest in qualifying – that set the tone. Brown’s heat race had some drama of its own, as the former multi-time track champion was forced to the work area before the race even started.
Brown, ace of his own Casey’s, FVP, Andy’s Frozen Custard, Impact Signs Awnings and Wraps, Mt. Dew Overdrive, Ditzfeld Transfer, Ditzfeld Container Service, No. 21 sprint car, raced on to finish second later that night, commencing the 20-lap, $6,000-to-win headliner from the exact same position.
As noted, Blackjack certainly made things interesting, taking command briefly on lap two before nearly doing it again on the final circuit. Ryan Timms, officially a Knoxville winner for the first time in his career, held strong, out sprinting Brown to the finish by a mere two-tenths of a second.
The podium outcome resulted in Brown’s fourth top-five of the season, simultaneously boosting his top-ten count to six.
“It was a great start for the Casey’s | FVP by setting quick time,” Brown was quick to note, “Unfortunately, all heck broke loose at the start of our heat race and we were involved in a wreck before it even started. We ended up going to the work area where the front axle needed to be replaced, only to realize that our torsion tube was broken as well. Special thanks to my team, as well as TKS Motorsports, for their help in getting us back on track. A lot of their guys stepped in and we are grateful for their help.
“Once the heat was over the team went to work to fix what they couldn’t during the open red flag,” Brown added. “A big thanks to Cory Eliason for welding up our bent and cracked front torsion tube. Despite the issues, our car in the A was pretty good. We had a shot at Ryan late in traffic but I just couldn’t get it done when I had the chance. He drove a great race in and out of traffic so congratulations to him and his team. Super proud of Chad, Justin and Devin…they never gave up and worked their tails off all night. All we can do now is look ahead to a big week close to home with High Limit and Knoxville.”
