Bova Will Drive for SDR at Tri-City’s Applefest
Mercer Champ Looks for Victory #7 of 2015

Struthers, Ohio (September 10, 2015) – After spending his Labor Day weekend away from the racing scene to celebrate his recently earned track championship, Cody Bova will return to competition this Sunday night, September 13, at Tri-City Raceway Park near Franklin, Pennsylvania. The Venango County oval will host “Applefest” on Sunday evening, featuring six divisions including the 305 sprint cars. Bova will drive the Skip Dougherty owned #27, 305 sprint car this Sunday night; a ride he has been victorious with this season.
“We took a few days off to kinda get away” said Bova, “We’ve dedicated a lot of time to the track this season; racing three days a week nearly every week. There wasn’t a lot going on during Labor Day weekend for our division, so we decided to skip any traveling and just enjoy the long holiday. I am anxious to get back to Tri-City this weekend. Skip Dougherty gives me a great opportunity to race for him on certain occasions and we’ve had some success. We’ll work to keep that going this weekend.”
Bova will enter “Applefest” at Tri-City Raceway Park with six “305” victories on the year, including five at the Mercer Raceway Park in Mercer, Pennsylvania. The five victories, including one during the final night of championship points, helped propel Bova toward the 2015 Mercer Raceway Park “305” track title. The Struthers, Ohio, native also owns one victory at Thunder Mountain Speedway in 2015 while driving for Skip Dougherty Racing.
“We’ve had a season to be proud of” said Bova, “We still have a lot of racing left to do, so we’ll stay focused and keep working to get up front. I just want to thank everyone who makes this possible. We are already starting to prepare for next season. It will be here before we know it.”
