Pittsburgh’s Pennsylvania Motor Speedway hosted the 410 sprint cars for the third time in 2011 this past weekend (9/17/11); and two of Fully Injected’s young pilots were on hand to brave the monster half-mile.

Brandon Spithaler; an Evan City, Pennsylvania native who recently wrapped up his season at Mercer Raceway Park with a third place finish in the overall standings, finished 8th in the 22 lap, $2,200 to win feature event at PPMS. The 20-year-old managed to salvage a top ten finish even after suffering issues with the car’s front nose wing. He will take this week to regroup before venturing west to Ohio next weekend to race at Wayne County Speedway near Wooster, Ohio.

Brandon Matus of Wampum, Pennsylvania ended his night at Pittsburgh with a 12th place finish in the sprint car feature event. The seventeen year old expressed some disappointment when discussing the result. Slick track conditions and a bad redraw kept the young hotshoe from making any leaps towards the front. He will go back to work this week with plans to race with the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series next Saturday night at Lernerville Speedway in Sarver, Pennsylvania.
