Evan City, PA (11/29/2012) – Evan City, Pennsylvania native and Western Pennsylvania ‘410’ sprint car competitor, Brandon Spithaler, ended his 2012 racing season with wins in two different forms of sprint car competition. Spithaler, who graduated from the Limited Sprint Car ranks before stepping into ‘410’ competition full-time, was able to secure not only a winged sprint car victory during his 2012 season; but was also able to secure a win in non-wing ‘410’ sprint car action in 2012. Spithaler’s non-wing victory came back on May 19th while racing with the Buckeye Outlaw Sprint Series (B.O.S.S.) for a one-night show at the Mercer Raceway Park in Mercer, Pennsylvania. The pilot of the familiar Superior Tank and Trailer/Tom Burkey owned ’57B’ non-wing sprinter actually spent much of his 2012 season on the road with the B.O.S.S. series; earning one victory and multiple respective finishes to end the year 6th in the series’ final point standings. When not on the road with the B.O.S.S. series during his 2012 campaign, Spithaler was piloting his own Cycle Warehouse no. 22 sprinter at regional dirt facilities such as Lernerville Speedway, Mercer Raceway Park, Pittsburgh’s Pennsylvania Motor Speedway, and Sharon Speedway. Spithaler’s lone winged victory of the 2012 season also came at the Mercer Raceway Park; leading all 25 laps of the track’s opening weekend sprint car A-main event.
“Overall, it was a pretty good year.” explained Spithaler, “We won one winged feature and I got my first non-wing feature win…I learned a lot as a driver and we also learned a lot as a team in 2012…getting to run new tracks with the B.O.S.S. Series also really helped me become a better driver…we were pretty consistent all season long…stayed out of trouble, too and didn’t tear much up…that was also a really big accomplishment for this season!”
Brandon Spithaler’s sixth place finish in the final B.O.S.S. series standings was a true accomplishment. Despite entering the 2012 season with limited non-wing experience, the Western Pennsylvania native finished just 7 points outside of the top five in the final standings. Spithaler’s B.O.S.S. season was highlighted with not only a career first non-wing victory, but also two fifth place finishes during feature action. The top five performances came at the Southern Ohio Speedway, and Pittsburgh’s Pennsylvania Motor Speedway.
Mercer Raceway Park in Mercer, Pennsylvania welcomed Brandon Spithaler to victory lane one time during the recent season. Spithaler piloted his Cycle Warehouse no. 22 ‘410’ sprinter to victory lane on opening night of the 2012 Mercer Raceway Park season. 2012 also saw Brandon Spithaler earn his first career World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series A-main start; as well as finish inside the top 10 of an All-Star Circuit of Champions A-main event. Although the pilot of the familiar ’22’ and ’57B’ was not focusing on any particular track championship, Spithaler still managed to finish inside the top 20 of Mercer Raceway Park’s final sprint car point standings; as well as finish 11th in Lernerville Speedway’s final sprint car point standings.
“I just can’t thank everybody enough” said Spithaler, “There are a lot of people who support my team and I and I can’t thank them enough…they include my father, Tom Burkey, Big Rich, Superior Tank and Trailer, Cycle Warehouse, Harmony Truck, Bowser Automotive, Miller Maintenance, Bill’s Interior Grooming, Advance Auto Parks, and Fully Injected/www.fullyinjected.com…without all of their help, I would be nowhere near where I am today!”
Spithaler’s 2013 season schedule has not yet been determined. The Evan City, Pennsylvania driver plans to compete with the All-Star Circuit of Champions as much as his schedule permits in 2013. The avid non-wing competitor also plans to race with the B.O.S.S. series as much as possible in 2013; or perhaps, follow the entire tour.
