MYERSTOWN, Pa. (May 20, 2019) – The extended weekend may have kicked off just shy of expectation, highlighting visits to Lincoln Speedway on May 15 and Williams Grove Speedway on May 17 with 16th place finishes, but Myerstown, Pennsylvania’s Brent Marks rebounded in a hurry and concluded his visit to Pennsylvania Posse Country with a top-ten performance during Williams Grove Speedway’s Morgan Cup finale on Saturday, May 18.
In fact, Marks, driver of the Brent Marks Racing/M&M Painting & Construction/BAPS Auto Paint & Supply/Eagle Hotel/No. 19 sprint car, was in position to score a top-five during the $12,000-to-win headliner, starting fourth on the feature grid after finishing fourth during the evening’s dash, but a late race slide forced Marks to settle for eighth in the running order. The top-ten appearance was Marks’ second of the 2019 season during World of Outlaws competition.
On a side note, although Marks was forced to settle for 16th during the Morgan Cup preliminary on Friday evening, the eight-position advancement from 24th was sound enough to secure KSE Hard Charger Award honors.
“The weekend had some ups and downs for us, but we were happy with how things unfolded on Saturday night. We put together a solid performance in front of our hometown fans and supporters, so that feels really rewarding. I’m proud of my team for displaying that level of perseverance,” Brent Marks explained, who is currently 11th in the World of Outlaws championship standings. “We have another busy week and weekend ahead, so hopefully we can continue with some positive momentum and add to our top-ten total.”
Brent Marks and Brent Marks Racing will continue their third year on the road with the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series with a four-race stretch through Memorial Day, first visiting Bridgeport Speedway in Bridgeport, N.J., on Tuesday, May 21.
Action will resume on Friday and Saturday, May 24 & 25, with the two-day Patriot Nationals at The Dirt Track at Charlotte in Concord, N.C., all capped off with a Memorial Day visit to the highbanks of Lawrenceburg Speedway in Lawrenceburg, Ind., on Monday, May 27.
