GRAIN VALLEY, Mo. (April 17, 2023) – Despite a wet and windy hiccup in Brian Brown’s plan to compete in Knoxville Raceway’s season opener slated for April 15, eventually canceled due to Mother Nature, the Higginsville, Missouri, native is still ready to hit high gear, anxious to battle head-to-head with the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series at the famed Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa, on Friday and Saturday, April 21-22.
Brown, the reigning Knoxville Raceway track champion, is certainly no stranger to the high pressures of competing with the Greatest Show On Dirt at the Sprint Car Capital of the World, as the ace of the Casey’s/FVP No. 21 sprint car is a former Outlaws winner at Knoxville, scoring $10,000 in the Brownells Big Guns Bash a season ago.
Although Knoxville Raceway’s originally scheduled season opener was canceled, Brown will enter the coming weekend on the back of a recent top-ten finish against the High Limit Sprint Car Series at Lakeside Speedway in Kansas City, Kansas. “Blackjack” finished ninth in the Series’ $50,000-to-win season debut, climbing ahead all the way back from row nine.
“We had a great night against one of the toughest fields of cars you’ll see all year. We were just a tiny bit off in qualifying, but decent in the heat and even better in the feature. Overall, 18th to ninth is pretty solid,” Brown explained. “Definitely looking forward to two nights with the World of Outlaws at Knoxville Raceway. We showed a lot of speed in practice, so hopefully that translates over this weekend.”
