GRAIN VALLEY, Mo. (September 10, 2024) – Blackjack’s return to sprint car competition resulted in success for the Higginsville, Missouri, native, not just qualifying for Port Royal Speedway’s coveted Tuscarora 50 on Saturday, September 7, but ultimately commencing action with back-to-back top-tens during preliminary competition, all of which highlighted with a fifth-place outcome in The Night Before The 50 on Friday, September 6. Brown started from the pole in Friday’s headliner, leading the first few circuits before Aaron Reutzel took control with three laps recorded.
As noted, Brian Brown’s Port Royal Speedway stat card included back-to-back top-ten appearances, launching his weekend at the Juniata County Fairgrounds with a ninth-place score on Thursday, September 5; he started fourth.
Unfortunately, contact with the outside retaining wall during Saturday’s heat race put Brown behind the eight ball for the weekend finale. Despite the hiccup, he would eventually transfer through the B-Main and race on to be scored 25th in the $57,000-to-win 50-lapper.
Brown’s recent absence from sprint car competition was due to an emergency appendix removal.
“I was pretty happy with the weekend, especially with just having surgery. We really weren’t sure what to expect,” Brown, ace of the Casey’s, FVP, Andy’s Frozen Custard, Impact Signs Awnings and Wraps, Mt. Dew Overdrive, Ditzfeld Transfer, Hawk Hunting, No. 21 sprint car, stated. “We unloaded with great speed on Thursday and Friday. Recorded two solid top-tens and really put ourselves in a great position on Friday with a dash victory and earning the pole. Saturday just didn’t work out how we planned. We qualified well again, but tore up some things in the heat when we made contact with the wall. We still raced on to make the show, but we had some work to do.
“Overall, super proud of my team. They did a phenomenal job in keeping me comfortable and I’m really looking forward to the rest of the year.”
