CARRYING THE TORCH: Elliott Schaeffer fuels next generation of Schaeffer Racing; Cove View Speedway next on summer hit list

KITTANNING, Pa. (June 27, 2025) – As the old saying goes, big shoes are hard to fill, but for Kittanning, Pennsylvania’s Elliott Schaeffer, son of four-time Lernerville Speedway 410 Sprint Car track champion Kevin Schaeffer, the shoes are already beginning to fill, carrying on his family’s racing legacy with success in the regional karting scene – a path all-too familiar to the Schaeffer Racing heritage.

“It’s been a lot of fun and I’m very grateful to be in this position. My dad’s career started in karts so I guess you could say I’m following along the same path. We have a lot of great supporters, many rooted right in our hometown, so that’s special, too. If it wasn’t for them, we couldn’t go out and do this,” Schaeffer was quick to mention. “We basically built this team from the ground up, so when you can go out and be successful, it’s an even greater sense of accomplishment. I’ve been trying to get my dad to race with me. Not sure he’s sold on the idea yet, but one of these days we’ll get him out of retirement.”

Although a somewhat frequent flyer in Western Pennsylvania, visiting Slippery Rock’s Slippery Rock Raceway and Seneca’s Lockhart Raceway on a semi-regular basis, Schaeffer makes time to compete elsewhere, as well, “hitting and missing” a variety of higher-paying programs across the commonwealth, and sometimes beyond. The coming weekend is an example of one such road trip, packed up to head southeast to Warfordsburg, Pennsylvania, for a one night stop at Cove View Speedway on Saturday, June 28.

Dubbed the Highbank Hustle, Saturday’s visit to Cove View will be a first-ever for Schaeffer, working to not only pad his ever-growing on-track resume, but score a big payday in the process – $1,000 to be exact.

Despite Mother Nature being his biggest rival to date, losing much of his 2025 schedule to wet and rainy conditions, Schaeffer’s stat chart is off to a fantastic start, scoring six podiums already this season with a victory included, that of which at the aforementioned Lockhart Raceway.

“The weather has been wild this year. Compared to the last few seasons, we really haven’t raced that much,” Schaeffer added. “We should have a lot more starts by now, but we’ll get through it. There’s still a lot of racing left on our schedule, and if all goes according to plan, we’ll be at Cove View on Saturday. It’s fun to go out and travel a little bit. A change of scenery is always good, and it gives you the opportunity to race new people and experience new tracks. We hope to have a successful trip.

“Just can’t thank all of our partners enough. It’s a long list and we’re ever grateful. Road trips like this wouldn’t be possible without them.”
