By Fully Injected Motorsports:
YORK, Pa. (April 22, 2019) – It was a tough decision to make, but the end-result was worth the debate.
Instead of visiting the Pigeon Hills for the $6,900-to-win Weldon Sterner Memorial on April 20, Cory Haas, driver of the Trone Outdoor Motorsports/Old Republic Distillery/Creekside Auto Sales/Trone Outdoor Advertising/Wicked Cushion/No. 39 sprint car, made the trip to Port Royal Speedway on Saturday afternoon, joining many of Pennsylvania’s finest for another round weekly competition at the coveted ‘Speed Palace.’
Although the evening was delayed due to Mother Nature, things eventually heated up with Haas racing on to score his second top-five performance of the 2019 season. The York-native finished fifth during the 25-lap main event, battling within the top-five the entire distance after starting second on the feature grid. In fact, Haas owned the second spot the first 13 circuits.
Haas finished second during heat race action to kick off his night at the Juniata County Fairgrounds.
“It was a good day for us. I’m happy we made the trip to Port Royal,” Cory Haas explained, who also owns a top-five finish at Williams Grove Speedway this season. “I’m pretty sure we didn’t make an official decision to go to Port Royal until 10 a.m. on Saturday. Regardless, we’re happy with how things turned out. The car keeps getting better and better and that’s exciting, especially with big races coming up quick on the schedule.”
Cory Haas and Trone Outdoor Motorsports will continue their 2019 campaign with another action-packed weekend in the Keystone State. Although destinations have yet to be set in stone, the initial plan is to visit Williams Grove Speedway on Friday, April 26, followed by a return to the Port Royal ‘Speed Palace’ on Saturday, April 27.
