BUTLER, Pa. (September 5, 2024) – It’s been a busy and competitive season for Butler, Pennsylvania’s Cullen Hutchison, not only participating in some of the nation’s most sought-after micro sprint events such as the Tulsa Shootout and Midwest Winter Nationals, but ultimately continuing his dirt career with a handful of appearances in the RUSH Sprint Series throughout Western Pennsylvania. Despite the chaotic schedule, things just got busier for the Western Pennsylvania youngster, set to debut his family micro sprint team – Hutchison Motorsports – in the Keith Kunz Motorsports Challenge at Coles County Speedway in Mattoon, Illinois.
The event, contested over three days beginning later this evening, Thursday, September 5, will feature some of the nation’s finest Outlaw Non-Wing competitors, all of whom chasing a starting position in Saturday’s KKM Challenge finale A-Main. The total field has been split into two with half competing in Thursday’s qualifier and the other half competing on Friday.
“It’s been a wild year, but I couldn’t be more excited,” Cullen Hutchison, champion of the aforementioned Midwest Winter Nationals, said. “First and foremost, I want to thank Sam Johnson of Sam Johnson Racing for all of his hard work in putting this deal together. He’s the brains of this entire operation and we’re excited to make our debut later tonight. I’m confident big things are ahead and it’s all because of the effort he’s put forward.
“I also want to thank Joe Lockhart and Lockhart Raceway for their continued support, and for giving me the opportunity to drive one of their RUSH sprint cars,” Hutchison added. “Our RUSH season is not done yet, but with some bigger micro events over the next few weeks, we’re going to switch directions for a little while. We did some testing last night and we’re really excited to get started.”
Hutchison finished eighth in his most recent RUSH Sprint Series start at Tri-City Raceway Park in Franklin, Pennsylvania, on Sunday, September 1; there were nearly 20 cars in attendance.
