Danny Dietrich looks ahead despite disappointing end to 2016
By Fully Injected Motorsports:
GETTYSBURG, PA (November 7, 2016) – Despite a disappointing end to his 2016 campaign, disqualified at Susquehanna Speedway on Saturday, November 5, after a controversial late call to the staging area by speedway officials, “Double-D” Danny Dietrich will enter his “off-season” with a full load of momentum, already beginning preparations for his upcoming campaign.
Dietrich’s momentum boost was made possible by nine separate trips to victory lane in 2016, also earning a first-ever Pennsylvania Sprint Speedweek championship.
“We have a lot to be proud of this season. We didn’t match our win total from 2015, but we accomplished more and I’m more excited about that,” Dietrich explained. “Obviously, we are disappointed that our season ended like it did. I didn’t see eye-to-eye with the call that I was late to the staging lane, and I definitely was against starting at the tail of the field as a penalty for being late, so we were disqualified. Hopefully those things can be worked out in the future and kept from happening again. We’ll put that behind us and start preparing for next season.”
Also included amongst his list of 2016 accomplishments includes earning victories against the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions and the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series. His most recent victory, the largest of his career, earned the Gettysburg native $25,000; the Champion Racing Oil National Open against the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Cars at Williams Grove Speedway.
In addition to Williams Grove Speedway, Danny Dietrich and Gary Kauffman Racing earned victories at Lincoln Speedway, Selinsgrove Speedway, Susquehanna Speedway, and Port Royal Speedway during their 2016 campaign. “Double-D” visited victory lane at each of those facilities twice, with the exception of Port Royal Speedway where he won once.
“The National Open was definitely our biggest accomplishment, not just this year, but ever. I still find myself reliving that moment in my head over and over again. A total team effort. I can’t thank my entire crew enough. They made that $25,000 win possible,” Dietrich said. “Earning a PA Speedweek championship was also a huge accomplishment, as was beating the All Stars at Selinsgrove early in the year. We’re going to take all of that momentum and use it to our advantage this off-season. I think we have the potential to do even more.”
Danny Dietrich will release plans for his 2017 season during the coming weeks.
