Pittsburgh, PA – 8/1/12} The most prestigious event in all of sprint car racing begins one week from today, and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania’s Danny Holtgraver plans to participate in that event, and hopefully snag a healthy chunk of the one-million dollar purse. The 52nd Annual Goodyear Knoxville Nationals at Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa will begin it’s four day schedule next Wednesday evening, August 8th, and end on Saturday night, August 11th, with the $150,000-to-win Knoxville Nationals Championship. Over one hundred of the world’s top ‘410’ sprint car teams will gather in Knoxville, Iowa next weekend, for an opportunity to claim a Knoxville Nationals Championship. This will be Holtgraver’s second attempt at the world famous event; with a goal to do better than last year’s C-main appearance.

“This is what we have been waiting for” said Holtgraver, “This is the biggest event in the world for our sport and hopefully we can make some noise this year and make it a little farther in the Saturday night program!”

The Kargo Quality Cars and Trucks/Alternative Power Sources ‘D4’ team will begin their trek towards qualifying for Saturday night’s $150,00-to-win A-main on Wednesday evening with their respective qualifying program. A full program on Wednesday night, with half of the event’s entrees, will be conducted to give drivers and teams an opportunity to earn points towards a Saturday night A-main starting spot. If Holtgraver can perform well in time trials, finish up front in his respective heat, and qualify for Wednesday night’s preliminary A-main, then the former Lernerville Speedway track champion will have the best shot at making Saturday night’s A-main starting line-up. The Western Pennsylvania native will be up against some tough company, as Wednesday night’s preliminary event roster includes such names as Jonathon Allard, Kyle Larson, Lucas Wolfe, Steve Kinser, Craig Dollansky, Donny Schatz, Brad Sweet, Fred Rahmer, and two-time and defending ‘360’ Knoxville Nationals champion, Shane Stewart. “We feel like Wednesday night is a good night to qualify” explained Holtgraver, “We don’t want to sit around and watch for a night…we want to jump right in and see how we can do…hopefully everything goes good for us and we can have a solid evening…that way we can hang out and relax with no pressure on Thursday!”

Before the nationals begins to unfold on Wednesday evening, August 8th, Danny Holtgraver, along with crew chief Brian Kemenah, will participate in the Capitani Classic at Knoxville Raceway on Sunday, August 5th; featuring a regular Knoxville Championship Cup Series event for the ‘410’ sprinters. This regular program at the ‘Dirt Racin’ Capital of the World’ will be a great tune-up for Holtgraver and the ‘D4’ operation; giving the All-Star Circuit of Champions ‘Ohio Region’ competitor a first-look at the big half mile before nationals action begins later in the week. If everything goes smoothly for the ‘D4′ team on Sunday night, August 5th, then the team will be entering in the All-Star Circuit of Champions’ Front Row Challenge event at Southern Iowa Speedway in Oskaloosa, Iowa on Monday, August 6th. The Oskaloosa All-Star event is an annual ‘pre-nationals’ program at the Southern Iowa Speedway, and will be sharing the stage with the Amsoil USAC National Sprint Cars. Teams that plan on participating in the nationals usually make Oskaloosa their ‘pre-nationals’ destination.

“We are going to wait and see how Sunday goes at Knoxville before we make a decision about racing at Oskaloosa” said Holtgraver about the Front Row Challenge event at Southern Iowa Speedway, “If things go well for us on Sunday then I see us racing on Monday…but if the night doesn’t go our way on Sunday, then we will just take the next two days to regroup before our nationals qualifying run on Wednesday”

Danny Holtgraver will have one opportunity to step away from the race track on Friday morning, August 10th, for a little game of kickball. The recent All-Star Circuit of Champions feature winner will be participating in the ‘GoDaddy Knoxville Kick-It’ to help raise money towards curing children with cancer. Holtgraver will be playing kickball with dozens of other sprint car drivers from all over the world who are also racing in the prestigious Knoxville Nationals. ‘Team Bottom Feeders’ will take on ‘The Rim Riders’ on Friday morning in a kickball game; followed by a charity auction with all proceeds going towards the Kick-It organization. Holtgraver will be featured on ‘Team Bottom Feeders’ along with drivers such as Brady Bacon, Paul McMahan, Joey Saldana, Greg Hodnett, and Craig Dollansky.
