GETTYSBURG, Pa. (March 1, 2021) – Danny Dietrich’s Pennsylvania season officially hit high gear on Saturday afternoon, and although the Gettysburg native was unable to defend his Lincoln Speedway Icebreaker title, settling for 21st on the scorecard after an early retirement, the pilot of the familiar Gary Kauffman Racing No. 48 is already looking ahead to the coming weekend and is aiming high to overcome a lackluster start.

Dietrich’s Icebreaker “DNF” was partly due to a poor draw, pulling the final pill which forced the former Lincoln Speedway track champion to start at the back of his heat race. A seventh-place finish during his respective heat forced Dietrich to line-up 20th on the feature grid. Dietrich attempted to battle forward, but a narrow surface ultimately led to Dietrich’s decision to pull off early.

“We were forced to deal with the cards that were handed to us. We did our best to recover, but it was in our best interest to just save our stuff and try again next weekend,” Danny Dietrich said. “It just wasn’t meant to be. We’ll get ourselves ready for Lincoln and Port next weekend.”

Dietrich, driver of the Weikert’s Livestock, Sandoe’s Fruit Market, Pace Performance, Big Cove Whitetail Trophy Hunts, Drop Of Ink Tattoo, Sweeney Chevrolet Buick GMC, Self Made, No. 48 machine, will return to action on Saturday and Sunday, March 6-7, with the first PA double of the season. The weekend will ignite officially with his return to the “Fabulous” Lincoln Speedway on Saturday, followed by Port Royal Speedway’s $5,000-to-win season opener on Sunday.
