GETTYSBURG, Pa. (May 13, 2024) – A power plant setback in qualifying put Danny Dietrich behind the eight ball early, but as “Double-D” usually does, the Gettysburg ace recovered, eventually turning a row 12 starting position into a top-ten outcome – finishing ninth to be exact – in Lincoln Speedway’s annual Gettysburg Clash on Wednesday, May 8.
Dietrich, ace of Gary Kauffman’s Weikert’s Livestock, Sandoe’s Fruit Market, Pace Performance, Cochrancars.com, York Excavating, Big Cove Whitetail Trophy Hunts, Drop Of Ink Tattoo, Self Made Racing, No. 48 sprint car, started 24th with the Greatest Show On Dirt, earning his way into the $12,000-to-win dance with the Last Chance Showdown’s final transfer position.
Dietrich’s A-Main charge was good enough to solidify the evening’s Hard Charger Award; he advanced the most feature positions.
“We would have rather been in the hunt for a win, but considering how the night started, we’ll take this as a win and move forward,” Dietrich explained. “Hats off to my crew. Those guys never give up and I’m proud to have them as a part of this race team. The upcoming weekend is still undetermined in some respect. We’ll make a decision as soon as we can. We’re going to go where the weather works. As of now, Thursday looks good in New York, so we’re going to start there then make a decision.”
