BROWNSBURG, Ind. (May 13, 2019) – For the second time in 2018, Fargo, North Dakota’s Donny Schatz is a World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series main event winner, this time conquering action at Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio. In fact, the #LetsRaceTwo victory on Friday, May 10, was Schatz’ third consecutive #LetsRaceTwo feature win, as the ten-time and defending World of Outlaws champion swept the Mother’s Day weekend special in 2018.
Schatz’ victory at The Big E was the result of a runner-up finish during his respective heat race, winning the first of two dashes shortly thereafter. The driver of the Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing/Toco Warranty/Ford Performance/Curb Records/Sage Fruit/Absolute Automation & Security/No. 15 sprint car would go on to lead all 30 laps of main event competition to earn the $10,000 payday, forced to withstand early pressure from World of Outlaws Rookie of the Year contender, Carson Macedo, and then a late race charge by Shark Racing’s Logan Schuchart.
Adding a little extra glamour to Schatz’ dominating performance at Eldora Speedway, he did so with Toco Warranty on the sideboard; his first victory of the season with the California-based company, now the primary sponsor of the ever-familiar No. 15, attached to the car.
Saturday’s #LetsRaceTwo finale was eventually cancelled due to late-afternoon rain showers. The event will be contested on Wednesday, July 17.
“It’s always exciting to get a win at Eldora. We’ve built a pretty strong playbook over the years, but things change; tires change, track surfaces change. Lucky for me, I have a team that adapts well to change and we certainly proved that tonight,” Donny Schatz expressed, who is now the World of Outlaws championship point leader. “I’m happy to get it done for our friends at Toco Warranty. This is our first win with Toco on the sideboard, so that feels pretty special. Hopefully we can earn them a lot more as the season continues.”
Up next on the schedule, Donny Schatz and Tony Stewart Racing will venture further east and invade areas of Pennsylvania and New York for an extended weekend consisting of four events over five days. Schatz will first visit the ‘Fabulous’ Lincoln Speedway on Wednesday, May 15, followed by a two-day visit to the world-famous Williams Grove Speedway on Friday and Saturday, May 17 & 18.
The long weekend will conclude on Sunday, May 19, with a visit to the state-of-the-art Weedsport (N.Y.) Speedway.
