Donny Schatz scores top-ten at Wilmot, set to chase seventh Kings Royal title

BROWNSBURG, Ind. (July 14, 2025) – Mother Nature may have won two out of three, ending all hope for action at Deer Creek Speedway and Wilmot Raceway on Thursday and Friday, July 10-11, but the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series persevered, finally making their on-track presence at Wilmot on Saturday, July 12. For Donny Schatz and Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing (TSR), who are currently sixth in the WoO title chase, it was a consistent effort, nonetheless, not only capping the evening with their 23rd top-ten of the season, but launching all action with the sixth-fastest qualifying time, racing on to finish third in their respective heat race.
Schatz, a ten-time World of Outlaws champion and ace of Tony Stewart’s Carquest, Advance Auto Parts, Curb Records, Martin One Source, No. 15 sprint car, finished eighth in his top-ten effort, commencing the evening’s Larry Hillerud Memorial | Badger 40 from the inside of row five. The Fargo, North Dakota, native’s effort will prove vital, set to take on another action-packed week in the Buckeye State beginning with Attica Raceway Park’s Brad Doty Classic on Tuesday, July 15.
Another iconic event, Eldora Speedway’s coveted Kings Royal Week will blast off Wednesday and Thursday, July 16-17, with back-to-back nights of High Limit Racing competition, followed by back-to-back nights featuring the Greatest Show On Dirt on Friday and Saturday. Saturday’s Kings Royal finale, an event in which Schatz owns six titles, will award a $200,000-to-win payday.
