Eldora’s “Off Season” is Ambitious with Resurfacing of Legendary Oval
Nearly 400 Truckloads of Clay Being Brought in to Invigorate Surface
ROSSBURG, OH (November 13) – Eldora Speedway’s “off-season” is anything but that once again as the track surface is undergoing an ambitious makeover under the direction of Chad Schmitmeyer, Facilities Manager of the legendary half-mile clay oval.
Nearly 400 truckloads of clay is in the process of being hauled on to the high-banks to invigorate the surface that last year produced some of the most competitive racing seen in Eldora’s rich 61 year history.
As a non-stop parade of 45 trucks hauls in the clay, Schmitmeyer and crew continues to distribute it around the full oval, keeping a watchful eye to maintain the shaping that produced 2014’s multi-grooved racing.
While the hauling of the clay is expected to be completed within the week, the track preparation will continue right up through the April 11, 2015 Test and Tune session.
